Welcome to 7Tan Café, a modern South African buy & braai cuisine establishment located in the heart of Mafikeng. We believe that “change should lead to growth,” and our arrival in 2018 changed the town’s lifestyle experience like none before it. Occupying a sprawling building structure which was meant to be The Crossing Shopping Complex’s Taxi Rank, we transformed it into a breathtaking hospitality place in the new Mahikeng’s business hub.

Our restaurant/pub trades seven days a week and has been patronized by professionals, tertiary-students, and the community alike. We offer quality food, mainly braai-meat, coupled with beverages in a safe and secure environment at a value that money can buy. Emulating the pre-1994 urban-funkie joint set-up synonymous with the night life of Mmabatho/Mafikeng area, 7Tan Café disrupted the existing order by providing a unique lifestyle experience.

“We partnered with the founders of PH Network Café brand to broaden the lifestyle experience, which was designed for the football fans who descended on our shores for the 2010 FIFA World Cup when the first shop was launched in Phokeng,” said Balebetse Jeff Monnakgotla, Executive Director of Seven Tan 710 (PTY) LTD. The opening of the Maftown branch resulted in massive brand awareness expansion and overall business growth.

The growth led to direct participation in Mafikeng’s economy, with a staff complement in excess of sixty (60) directly employed and many others indirectly through an array of supplier’s value chain, including but not limited to local music DJs and security companies. A further benefit to the community has been through social responsibility contributions.

Since the License Agreement to trade as PH Network Café has lapsed after five years, the company opted to re-brand using its IP, hence the new name 7Tan Café with the tag-line “Best of Pleasures.” Monnakgotla added: “this entire process is not only a name change but the entire business model overhaul, such as staff re-training, menu offerings upgrades, as well as keeping up with all the government regulations, including but not limited to fair Labor practice.”

We take pride in offering shesanyama meals, which are already popular, and new additions such as Potjie, Rotisserie Chickens, and Barista made ground roasted coffee & cappuccino. All these offerings are made to meet and satisfy the growing expectations of high-quality standards found only in an establishment such ours.

The 7Tan Café portfolio is not only limited to the shesanyama experience, but a multi-facet business entity that has hosted government functions, private parties, outside caterings, closing/farewell functions for different entities such as the North-West University and the Victoria Private Hospital.

We have also partnered with big event organizers to present the annual ‘’House Party’’ on Christmas Day and the “All White Session” on New Year’s Day, all having national and international artists performing at our premises. Recently we collaborated with YOU-FM, resulting in the station broadcasting their afternoon drive show Live from our premises and inter-acting with the patrons in real-time.

The 7Tan Café has become the first “Spiritual Home of Corona,” a world-acclaimed Mexican beer, through a unique partnership with ABInBev, a parent company of the then SAB. This partnership resulted in hosting numerous Corona Sunsets activations to the delight of our patrons. A further collaboration with the organizers of the Mahika Mahikeng Cultural Music Festival is in the cards for their event coming on the 17-19 March 2023 at the Mmabatho Stadium.

As we continue to grow and evolve, we remain committed to providing our patrons with the highest quality of service and a memorable experience that they will want to relive time and time again. Our official re-branding launch is scheduled for Sunday, 12 March 2023, and we look forward to celebrating this milestone with Maftown born artists with a national footprint.
